Interview With A Vampire 6 points

The book is one of the best vampire books to read, besides twilight or Dracula. When reading the book, I wondered why it was written in a dialogue way. It then hit me; a person is interviewing with a guy who claims he is a vampire. As the title suggests, someone is interviewing a real vampire. The reason being that the book was so enjoyable to read. A vampire is telling someone about his life. It is risky because the discovery of vampires could threaten his life. Maybe Louis the vampire that is being interviewed. He needs a way to cope with his life and uses the interview as a therapy session.

I also have to say that Louis is a vampire who has qualities of human behavior. He cares for people, like the daughter he raised for part of the story. His daughter is a vampire he turned; she will never get to grow up. The vampire has regrets for not being able to choose between being a vampire and a human. He shows regret as the vampire is immortal, so he lives a long life. To experience all the joys and sadness people have.

The vampire near the end is weary of his 200 years of immortality. On the surface being immortal is a dream come true. However, on the outside living that long is sad. Many people who are immortal in the book knew a person and died from one way or another. The vampire is weary from events that happen later in the story that I do not want to spoil. He must feed off human blood to survive, that is sad.

It even describes how he was turned into a vampire. A vampire drank his blood but did not kill him. Instead, Louis was turned into a vampire. So yeah, he may not grow physically. However, he experiences a lot of wisdom as he cannot age. Vampires seek knowledge so they do not get bored. After all, life has come and gone, a vampire experiences a lot in his immortal life.

My final note on this book is that most vampire books feel the same weight. I mean that a lot of those books do not seem different. However, when reading this book. My entire perception of the vampire story changed. A person interviewing a vampire, now that is a story that changes the game. In their right mind would want to interview a vampire, crazy right. So, I must think this book was a different vampire book altogether and I feel sorry for Louis’s story. As I am compelled to have emotion for him. His story is like a Greek tragedy.
