The Hobbit 6 points

The book is a genre of fantasy; a great representation of fantasy, making it one of the most well-known books series in a fantasy genre. The author makes a narration making the reader entranced to read in the night sitting by a fire until someone falls asleep. It is also possible to read in hard rain, when stuck inside and has nowhere else to go. Tolkien books describe legends and stories of heroes. Thorin Oakensheild is an example of a hero who dies at the end of the story but becomes a legend to his people for his actions at the end of the book. The story is one that the reader wants to travel along the road with Bilbo Baggins. For instance, the beginning of the book sounds very pleasant but towards the end danger lurks around every corner.

Furthermore, the book is easy to read compared to the Lord of Rings. The paragraphs go back and forth between first and third person, to make reading easier for the reader. Although, the book shows that it is a prelude to the events of Lord of the Rings. The Battle of the Five explains the events of how the war for the ring started and shows his universe being created from an author's perspective. Tolkien's book shows how he created a defining chapter in the making his universe.

Tolkien also has ink illustrations to elaborate on the setting and the plot of the misty mountain. They are so well drawn that the ink drawings have amazing detail helping the reader understand the plot; for example, showing maps to explain where the dwarves are traveling. Also, many readers are still engaged in the story of the misty mountain because of the journey that takes place in the book. The dangers that characters face are menacing and thought-provoking as well, like Smaug or Azog.

The illustrations were not the only thing fascinating, but the symbolism behind The Hobbit is as well. The first symbolism is about taking risks and going on an adventure. At first, Bilbo Baggins wanted to stay at home. It is a home that is richer than most where the hobbits live, like the 1%. So Bilbo Baggins wants to stay in the comfort of his home, with his pots and pans. His sitting chair and the comfort of luxuries. However, after Biblo experiences part of his adventure. He helps the dwarves get in barrels to get away from the elves. So yeah, Bilbo gets to go outside his home, experiences the dangers of life, and at the best of reward. The best reward is the experiences with the dwarves he has.

The other symbolism to the book is that the power of money/gold corrupts people. The dragon sickness is equivalent to the obsession of gold Thorin has and his madness for the gold. However, when Smaug burns down the nearby village of the misty mountain, the village asks him for the gold to repair the damages. Thorin refuses the offer and is swallowed up by the gold inside the mountain. On Thorin's death bed, after battling Azog; he tells Biblo how much of a fool he became. The solace of money corrupted his moral self and has left him with his failure at the end. Overall, I think it is a must-read book for everyone to read and for others to understand.
